BOB BATES
Bob Bates was only in the 5th grade when he requested his first copy of Grey’s Anatomy for his birthday. He has since then continued to fuel this fascination through his own self-study into everything that has to do with mind, body, and spirit.
Bob graduated from The Citadel with a B.S. in Business Administration. He continued his education with a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. Since then he has split his professional career in both the non-profit sector and corporate America. Constantly the student, he applied his personal study to improve his performance in marathoning, triathlons, and open water race swimming. It was merely by an invitation of a friend that Bob found himself in a yoga class 10 years ago. This shifted his focus of his study to the topics of happiness, stress coping strategies, longevity, nutrition, and yoga. It was through these topics of study that there was a natural convergence which lead into an exploration in meditation. Through his personal deep dive into meditation and daily personal practice for years, he can speak clearly and with confidence to the practical differences meditation can make in anyone’s personal and professional life. Presently Bob is in the middle of completing his 200hr YTT at an area studio and his meditation teacher certification. Bob is excited to be a part of the impact Still Studio is having on the Charleston Community.

MARISSA ROWELL
Marissa has been a yoga practitioner since her early days of high school and fell in love with the unique movement right away. She graduated from Binghamton University in 2018 studying Human Development with a minor in Israel Studies. In 2019, she got certified in Power Vinyasa Yoga at her home studio in New York City (Yoga to the People) and taught at yoga studios in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Over the years, she's had a lot of change in her own practice and that has translated through her teaching. Although she's trained in a fast-paced yoga practice, and still loves to teach and move through that, she equally loves to slow down and practice meditation, breathwork, and restorative yoga with lots of props. She's certified in the Quiet Practices from a yoga studio in London (Sunday School Yoga) and loves to welcome times of stillness and breathwork into her classes. Marissa always encourages her students to take what they need and truly listen to their bodies and their breath as guidance. She's been a yoga teacher for over 4 years and loves every moment this journey has given her.
